Microsoft have officially confirmed the release dates of the next generation of software. Windows 7, Server 2008 R2 and Mobile 6.5 are being released in October 2009.
The newest versions of Windows operating systems for workstations and servers are being released on October 22nd.

This gives many feature upgrades to Server 2008 including a dedicated 64bit platform, reduced power consumption, increased efficiency, updated scripting for setting tasks and increased security with the new IIS 7.5 software. Windows Mobile is used on PDA's and smartphones to provide a more complete experience. The new Windows Mobile 6.5 home screen keeps people up-to-date on important information by providing dashboard-like items such as new e-mails, texts, missed calls and calendar appointments. It also includes an improved touch-screen interface, making it easy to take action with a finger, and an updated version of the latest Internet Explorer Mobile browser, which in a third-party research study sponsored by Microsoft supported execution of up to 48 percent more assigned tasks than the other browsers and phones studied.
